The Dance Steps

Please know that you don't need to hurt yourself to participate. What I mean is...do the dance to the best of your ability. If bending over hurts you, don't do it! If shaking your fist hurts, don't do it! You get the idea. It is more important to have you there participating than anything else!! You can learn as much of the dance as you like and join in at will. Learn the last 60 seconds, or 120 seconds, or more, but please just come out and show your support!!

The Vision

This is a big musical number that highlights the absurdity of the legislation being put forth in our legislatures all across the United States, including numerous attempts here in Colorado. I see women in June Cleaver type outfits. Typical outfits from the 50's and 60's.

I would like to see men in outfits that reflect the 50's and 60's as well. Polo shirts and khakis to ascot wearing open necked button downs.

Big hair would be preferable for the women with lots of makeup. Bullet bras if you can find one. Cardigan sweaters and pearls. Think June Cleaver and Ethel Merman.

I am hoping to make this a big musical number that is funny and memorable. a tongue in cheek take on the War on Women. Taking the message to the absurd and irreverent in an absurd and irreverent way.
This will be videotaped with three or more cameras and edited for audio and placed on youTube soon after the event. Hoping, of course, that it can go viral, with your help.

The vocals will be laid down this coming week and we are hoping to find five talented people to step up and meet on Wednesday, April 18th at a time to be determined.

I hear Ethel Merman in my head singing the beginning of this song. I would like this to be a powerful big voice that can fill a room easily without being amplified. I also would like one higher plaintive voice and a matronly falsetto sounding voice. We also need to have one moment for a choir sound and three distinctly male voices. Then we will have the final soundtrack for this flashmob.
We are also looking for performers to add into the dance with specials to articulate the lyrics visually.

These are the goals of this project with a projected final outcome of as much publicity as possible.
